What You’ll Need
• A laptop or mobile device with a modern browser
• Access to https://www.speedtest.net
• Optional: Install Speedtest by Ookla app (iOS/Android)
• A simple notepad or spreadsheet to record results
When to Run These Tests
Run tests at least twice daily over 3-5 business days:
• Peak Usage Time – e.g., during shift changes, morning toolbox meetings, or lunch breaks.
• Low Usage Time – e.g., early mornings, evenings, or overnight.
Network Tests to Perform
1. Speed Test via Speedtest.net
• Go to: https://www.speedtest.net
• Press “Go” to run the test.
• Record the following:
• Download speed (Mbps) – 15+ Mbps is ideal
• Upload speed (Mbps) – At least 10 Mbps preferred
• Ping/Latency (ms) – Should ideally be below 100 ms, but below 200 ms is workable.
2. Network Stability / Jitter
• On the same speed test, note the Jitter result (ms).
• Ideally, this should be <30 ms for smooth video playback.
3. Packet Loss Test (Optional but Recommended)
• Use a tool like Ping Test Live or run in Command Prompt/Terminal:
• ping google.com -n 50 (Windows)
• ping -c 50 google.com (Mac/Linux)
• Look for packet loss (%) – should be 0%. Anything over 2–3% may cause reliability issues.
4. Browser Test to Access LAAMP
• Open https://laamp.com.au
• Test:
• Login speed
• Page load time
• Launching a course
• Watching a video
• Note if pages fail to load or videos stall frequently.
5. Device Compatibility Check
• Try the same LAAMP login and course access on:
• A laptop (preferred)
• A mobile device (optional)
• This helps identify if certain devices perform better on the available network.
Here is your downloadable LAAMP Network Test Log Template. You can use it to track network performance data across multiple times and locations.
