6.2.1 Understanding Team Types

Modified on Tue, 29 Jul at 10:32 AM

Teams in LAAMP are powerful grouping tools that serve multiple purposes, from assigning training and enabling assessment visibility to reporting and triggering escalation workflows. When creating or editing a team, administrators can choose from four distinct configuration options, each designed to support a specific use case.

This page outlines the different team types, their behaviours, and how to configure managers and escalation workflows.

Team Configuration Options

When creating a new team, you’ll be presented with the following configuration options:

1. Auto Assign Training to Members

This is the default and most operationally impactful team type.

  • Training Assigned: All users in this team will automatically receive any Competency assigned to the team.

  • Assessment Visibility: Required for users in this team to appear in an Assessor’s Practical List.

  • Reports: This team type appears in standard reports, including Skills Matrix and Compliance Reports.

  • Use Case: Ideal for operational crews, site-based teams, or role-specific training groups where training and assessment must be tracked and delivered consistently.

2. Report on Member Training

A passive reporting team that does not assign training.

  • Training Not Assigned: Users will not receive any Competency or Course assigned to the team.

  • Practical List: Users in this team will not appear in the Practical Assessment list for Assessors.

  • Reports: This team will still appear in reports for visibility and filtering.

  • Preservation of Assignments: If a team was previously a Training Team, changing it to this type will not remove already-assigned training from users.

Once selected, this option unlocks two additional features:

2.1 Show a User’s Membership in Lists

  • The team name will appear next to the user in the User List, assessment records, and other interfaces for reference.

  • Ideal for highlighting union affiliation, shift group, or special assignment teams.

2.2 Critical Reporting Team

  • Enables automated escalation notifications to users and their managers for:

    • Training expiring in 30 days

    • Training expiring in 7 days

    • Day of expiry

    • Weekly reminders thereafter until complete

  • Escalation messages go to both the user and their Main Team Manager.

Setting Up Managers

Any team, regardless of type, can have one or more Managers assigned.

  • Monthly Summary: On the 1st of each month, Managers will receive a report listing:

    • All upcoming expiries in the next 30 days

    • All expiries in the past 30 days

  • To add a Manager:

    1. Open the Team settings.

    2. Click the “+” next to the Managers section.

    3. Select any user who is already a member of the team.

    4. You can assign multiple Managers per team.

Managers of Critical Reporting Teams

To enable escalation for a Manager:

  • The user must be marked as a Manager of a team where Critical Reporting Team is enabled.

  • That team must be set as their Main Team.

To set a user’s Main Team:

  1. Go to the user’s profile.

  2. Click the “…” next to the relevant team name.

  3. Select “Set as Main Team”.

Once configured, the Manager will:

  • Receive real-time notifications about overdue or at-risk training within their team.

  • Act as the escalation contact for training compliance in that group.
