2.2 Understanding Content Item Types

Modified on Tue, 8 Jul at 11:43 AM

Each Course in LAAMP is built using Chapters, and within each Chapter, you can add Pages that contain various content item types. These items allow you to deliver learning material, capture input, and assess user understanding in dynamic and flexible ways.

This section outlines all available content types and how they can be used.

Informational Content

These items are used to present information or instructional materials:

  • Text – Rich text blocks for written instruction.

    • When uploading images, please ensure to use the "Upload Image" button in the toolbar.

  • Video – Upload videos directly (e.g., training demos, safety briefings).

  • Resource – Upload files (PDFs, manuals, diagrams).

  • External Resource – PDF, DOCX, or PPTX hosted on Sharepoint

  • SCORM 1.2 – Embed SCORM-compliant training modules.

  • VR Tour – Custom interactive tours (contact LAAMP Support to set up).

Assessment & Input Types

These allow learners to interact with the content and demonstrate understanding:

  • True or False – Simple yes/no style questions.

  • Single Choice – One correct answer from a list.

  • Multiple Choice – One or more correct answers.

  • Written Answer – Open-ended responses (long-form).

    • This question type has access to a "Correct Answer" which will be shown to the Coordinator that reviews the submission to ensure the candidate has provided a response that is in line with expectations.

  • Drag and Drop – Drag to match type question.

  • Image Hotspot – Click on a correct area of an image.

Evidence Capture Tools

Used mostly in Practical Assessments and competency validation:

  • Image Capture – Upload or take a photo.

  • Video Capture – Record or upload a video response.

  • Audio Capture – Record or upload a sound file (e.g., verbal explanation).

  • Document Capture – Upload any document as proof of task completion.

  • Signature Capture – Capture a digital signature.

Best Practice Tips

  • Mix content types to maintain engagement (e.g., follow a short video with a quiz).

  • Use evidence capture when verifying on-the-job skills or site-based tasks.

  • Use SCORM or Resource files for complex or external training packages.

  • Keep interactive assessments (like Hotspots or Signature) short and task-focused.
