Once a Training Pathway has been created and published in LAAMP, the final step is to assign it to users. Assigning users ensures that the right individuals or groups receive the right training content, in the right order, at the right time.
LAAMP’s flexible targeting system allows Pathways to be assigned automatically based on Location, Role, and Team, or distributed manually by an Administrator.
Assignment via Targeting
When building a Pathway, the Targeting step determines who will receive the Pathway once published.
You can:
Leave the targeting open to All users at all locations (default).
Click Add Specific to open the Find Locations modal and select one or more locations.
Further refine targeting using:
Specific Role: Choose one or more roles using the Find Roles modal.
Specific Team: Choose one or more teams using the Find Teams modal.
? Only users matching the combination of Location + Role + Team will see the Pathway.
Targeting Logic and Visibility
If no targeting is configured, the Pathway applies globally.
If targeting is applied and then changed later, LAAMP automatically:
Warns you if any selected Competencies are not compatible with the new target audience.
Labels mismatched Competencies as “Restricted”.
⚠️ Restricted Competencies will not be visible or accessible to some users if they fall outside the updated targeting.
Manual Distribution (via Distribute Now)
When you click Publish on a Pathway, you are presented with a choice:
Distribute Now – Opens the Distribution modal, where you can:
View who will receive the Pathway
Choose whether to notify users immediately
Review and confirm the distribution
Later – Saves the Pathway as Published, allowing you to distribute it later from the Training Pathways page.
Assigning Pathways to Individuals
While Pathways are typically distributed at scale, Administrators may manually assign Pathways to specific users by:
Editing a user’s profile and matching them to the required Location, Role, and Team.
Ensuring that these attributes match the targeting filters used in the Pathway.
The user will then automatically be assigned the Pathway the next time they log in.
Best Practices
Review targeting settings carefully before publishing—especially when using “OR” logic in Competency structures.
Avoid over-targeting; use broad filters unless specific roles/teams truly require unique pathways.
