3.1 What Are Training Pathways?

Modified on Tue, 8 Jul at 11:31 AM

Training Pathways are a powerful feature in LAAMP that allow you to sequence multiple Competencies into a defined, structured order. With a Pathway, users are guided step-by-step through a tailored learning journey, unlocking the next Competency only once they have completed the previous one.

This ensures a clear, progressive learning experience and is ideal for structured onboarding, safety induction programs, or multi-stage role qualifications.

Key Characteristics of Training Pathways

  • Competencies must be completed in order.

  • Each Pathway has its own titledescriptionimage, and targeted audience.

  • A user cannot skip ahead—they must complete Competency 1 before Competency 2 becomes available.

  • Pathways can be saved as drafts before publishing, and only published Pathways will be visible to users.

  • Targeting can be applied to limit Pathway visibility by Location, Role, and Team.

Who Can Create or Manage Training Pathways?

Only Publishers, Coordinators, and Administrators can access Training Pathways:

  • Create Training Pathway (Publisher, Administrator)

  • Edit Training Pathway (Publisher, Administrator)

  • View and Assign Training Pathway (Coordinator, Administrator)

  • Delete Training Pathway (Publisher, Administrator)

These users will see a “Training Pathways” menu item in the Side Menu (or icon if collapsed). From there, they can view, create, or modify pathways.

Training Pathway Management Features

When on the Training Pathways page, users can:

  • Use a search bar and status filter to locate specific pathways

  • Click “New” to create a new Training Pathway

  • Sort by last modified date

  • Or target specific Locations, Roles, and Teams using the “Add specific” button

  • Select options using modals with searchable lists

  • Expand targeting to specify combinations like “Only Technicians at WA, Site A”

Building the Pathway Sequence

On the Pathway step:

  • Add Competencies using the “Add a Competency” button

  • Competencies must be published and available based on your targeting settings

  • Each added Competency appears as a tile showing:

    • Its order in the sequence

    • The number of Courses it contains

    • Status and edit options

You can:

  • Drag-and-drop to rearrange sequence order

  • Replace or Remove individual Competencies

  • Bulk-select multiple Competencies to delete

Publishing the Pathway

To publish:

  • You must have at least one Competency in the Pathway

  • Click Publish (enabled once requirements are met)

  • A modal appears offering:

    • Distribute Now – go directly to the distribution setup

    • Later – return to the Training Pathway list

Helpful Tips

  • If you change the targeting settings after building your Pathway, LAAMP will notify you if some Competencies are no longer compatible.

  • You’ll see a “Restricted” label on any Competency that doesn’t match the updated targeting.

  • Always double-check your audience and order before publishing.
