5.1 Capturing Image, Video, Audio, and Document Evidence

Modified on Wed, 23 Jul at 10:19 AM

Capturing evidence is a core part of demonstrating competence in LAAMP—especially in Practical Assessments, Logbooks, and on-the-job training records. LAAMP supports a wide range of media types to provide rich, verifiable evidence of task completion, skill application, and compliance.

This page outlines how to capture and submit four key types of media evidence: Image, Video, Audio, and Documents.

Image Capture

Use case: Visual proof of task completion, equipment condition, PPE usage, etc.

How to capture:

  • When prompted on a Course Page or Assessment item, tap the camera icon

  • Use your device’s camera to take a photo

  • You can also upload from your gallery or file storage

  • Preview the image and confirm to submit

  • Avoid obstructed or blurry images

  • Include a timestamp or visible identifier if relevant

Video Capture

Use case: Demonstrating procedures, equipment operation, or communication skills

How to capture:

  • Tap “Video Capture” on the relevant assessment item

  • Record a short video using your device’s camera

  • Submit directly from the app or browser

Best practices:

  • Keep videos concise and relevant (e.g. 30–60 seconds)

  • Narrate if necessary to describe what’s being done

  • Ensure sound and visuals are clear

Audio Capture

Use case: Verbal explanations, safety callouts, or responses to scenario-based questions

How to capture:

  • Tap “Audio Capture” and use your device’s microphone

  • Record a response or description

  • Play it back to review, then submit

Best practices:

  • Speak clearly and avoid background noise

  • Use a headset for better quality if available

  • Keep recordings to the point

Document Capture

Use case: Uploading forms, permits, checklists, or external certifications

How to capture:

  • Select “Document Capture” to upload from your device

  • Supported formats: PDF, Word, Excel, JPG, PNG

  • Add any notes or comments as required

Best practices:

  • Ensure the document is legible and complete

  • Scan or photograph full pages—avoid partial or cropped uploads

  • Use a consistent naming convention for easier tracking

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Always allow camera/microphone permissions in your browser or app

  • For large files (especially video), ensure a stable internet connection before uploading

  • If you’re offline, evidence will be queued until you reconnect—watch for the cloud icon and upload progress
