Modified on Fri, 4 Jul at 10:04 AM

Creating Courses in LAAMP is a core function for Publishers and Administrators. Courses serve as the foundation of your organisation’s training and assessment content. This page outlines the full process for creating a new Course from scratch.

Before You Start

Make sure you have:

  • A clear idea of the course name and purpose

  • The type of content you want to include (text, video, assessments, etc.)

  • At least one Location already created in LAAMP where this course will be available

Step-by-Step: Create a Course

  1. Log into LAAMP with Publisher permissions or higher.

  2. Open the Side Menu and go to Courses.

  3. Click the “+ Add” button in the top-right corner.

Basic Course Setup

  1. Enter a Course Name

(Must be at least 3 characters long)

  2. (Optional) Add a Course Image, Description, or Notes.

  3. Select the Course Type:

    • Standard – for theory/self-paced modules

    • Practical – for in-field assessments and evidence capture

    • Logbook – for capturing ongoing training that may have an unknown length

    • Review – for qualitative assessments scored by a Reviewer

    • First Time Run – for onboarding courses shown only once per user

  4. Set Verification/Authorisation requirements (if applicable).

  5. Choose a Training Type from the dropdown list (if applicable).

  6. Input a Training Code (if applicable).

  7. Choose an Expiry Timeframe or set to Never Expires.

Assigning Locations

  1. Click “+ Add Location”.

  2. Select the relevant Location(s) from the list.

(These control who has access to complete this course.)

  3. Click “Save As Draft” to save your course structure.

Next Steps

Once the draft is saved, you can begin building Chapters and Pages (content and assessment activities). These steps are covered in the next section.

Reminder: A Course cannot be published until it has:

  • At least one Chapter with valid Pages

  • A Location assigned
