In LAAMP, Logbooks are a unique Course Type, similar to Standard or Practical Courses. They allow users to record recurring tasks or learning activities over time and submit them for review and approval. Logbooks are ideal for tracking skill application, repetition, or performance across multiple sessions.
How Logbooks Work
A Logbook Course:
Functions like a Standard Course in structure.
Includes recurring pages that users can submit multiple times.
Is designed to capture repeat evidence or task entries over a defined period.
These recurring pages allow learners to demonstrate consistency, practice, or growth over time—critical in many operational or licencing environments.
Recurring Page Configuration
Publishers configure one recurring page during Course setup. These pages act as reusable templates that users fill out each time they complete a task, shift, or milestone.
Each submission becomes a separate Logbook Entry, which is stored and tracked as part of the Course.
Users can:
Complete recurring pages as many times as required.
Submit each entry individually for approval.
Track how many entries they have submitted and had approved.
Page Approvers
Unlike standard assessments, Logbooks introduce the concept of Page Approvers—a powerful way to delegate responsibility for reviewing individual Logbook entries.
Only the following Permission roles can be selected as Page Approvers:
Assessor
Authoriser
Coordinator
Coordinator Support
Crew Leader
Requestor
These users are responsible for reviewing and approving or rejecting individual Logbook entries as they come in.
Approval and Final Submission Workflow
User completes and submits a Logbook entry via the recurring page.
Page Approver reviews each entry:
May Approve or Reject the submission.
Can leave comments or feedback.
Once all required entries are approved:
The Page Approver is given the option to submit the full Logbook for Verification.
The Logbook is then routed through the standard Verification and Authorisation workflow, just like any other course.
Benefits of Using Logbooks
Tracks repeated learning or practice over time
Allows delegation of approval to front-line leaders or support roles
Provides rich, time-stamped data on skill application
Ensures that only qualified users (Page Approvers) validate recurring evidence
Best Practices
Choose Page Approvers who are directly responsible for observing the user’s day-to-day work
Configure recurring pages to be simple, consistent, and quick to complete
Include required media types (e.g., signature, image) to ensure strong evidence
Monitor pending approvals regularly to avoid bottlenecks
